The long wait for Kyrie Irving to suit up in front of the home fans at the Barclays Center is coming to an end.

Brooklyn stand up. That’s what fans in the New York City borough will be able to do this week for Kyrie Irving, as the superstar guard will now be able to play in home games. According to Shams Charania, the rules in NYC will change on Thursday, opening the door for Irving to suit up.

With Irving not being vaccinated, he hasn’t been able to play in home games this year, but he’s been in action for road contests. He’s been patiently waiting to play at the Brooklyn venue and now Irving has gotten his wish.

Brooklyn will return to the Barclays Center on Sunday against Charlotte

The Brooklyn supporters will be able to watch Irving hit the hardwood on Sunday, as the Nets will be hosting the Hornets. Brooklyn is taking on Memphis on Wednesday before traveling to Miami on Saturday.

In 19 games this season, Irving has been superb for the team, averaging 27.7 points per showing. Irving and Kevin Durant have been brilliant playing together and now they won’t have the mandate in their way to prevent them from keeping things going.

This news is also huge for the New York Yankees and New York Mets, as their unvaccinated players are no longer in danger of missing the first home game of the 2022 season. People had been calling for the rules to be changed for a while now.

Earlier this month, Irving was spotted courtside at a game in Brooklyn, with Durant and LeBron James furious that he was allowed to attend a game, but still couldn’t play. That’s in the past now, as Irving should be ready to record a memorable game against the Hornets at home this weekend.
